How do you check if a GoHighLevel expert is really certified?
Ask for the person's full name and certificate link, then look them up in HighLevel's certified directory at directory.gohighlevel.com. A real HighLevel Certified Admin has a directory profile with their name and location, and a badge with an issue date. If the name is not in the directory, the certification has lapsed or never existed.
Three details matter when you check. The certification belongs to a person, not an agency, so ask which certified person will work on your account. HighLevel says the badge is valid for two years from the live exam. And it stays active only while the person keeps a certification subscription: if it ends, HighLevel says the certification becomes inactive and the name is removed from the directory.
What does HighLevel certification actually prove?
It proves the person passed HighLevel's coursework and a live proctored practical exam, and is keeping up with at least two extra skills badges a year. It does not prove they have built a system like yours, that they test before launch, or that their agency supports what it builds.
| Certification shows | Certification does not show |
|---|---|
| Platform knowledge tested in a live exam | Experience in your industry |
| An active certification subscription | Delivery quality or testing habits |
| Recent skills badges, such as A2P compliance or AI Employee | Who owns the account after the build |
| A named, findable person | That this person will do your work |
HighLevel's certification costs $97 a month or $970 a year at the time of writing, per its certifications page. So a lapsed badge often means a person stopped paying, not that they forgot how to build. Treat it as a filter, then judge the work.
What should you check after certification?
After confirming the certification, ask for one comparable build you can see, ask who exactly will do the work, and ask what gets tested before launch. Those three answers predict a project far better than any badge.
- Comparable work: a case study or screen share from a business like yours, with a time window on any result, like our Smile Bright Dental study.
- The named person: the certified admin should be the one building or reviewing your account, not a name on the sales page.
- Testing: how they test workflows, texting and calendar sync before real leads arrive.
- Ownership: the account in your name, or written transfer terms.
- Support: what happens when something breaks in month three, and what it costs.

Questions about GoHighLevel certification
Is a certified GoHighLevel expert always better?
No. Certification is a sensible minimum for someone who builds on GoHighLevel full time, but an uncertified builder with three comparable builds you can see is a safer bet than a certified one with none.
Can an agency be HighLevel certified?
The Certified Admin badge is issued to individuals. An agency can say its people are certified; ask for their names and check each one in the directory.
Where is HighLevel's certified directory?
At directory.gohighlevel.com, searchable by name, country and city.
Is Autoesta's founder certified?
Yes. Alpit Patel holds the HighLevel Certified Admin badge shown above, issued January 16, 2025. More on the author page.
