GoHighLevel Voice AI outbound calls now record consent once per location

HighLevel now records outbound calling terms inside the Voice AI Outbound Call action, once per location. That is account-level terms, not your leads' consent. Here is the difference.

Key takeaways

  • Outbound calling terms are now accepted inside the Voice AI Outbound Call action.
  • Acceptance is recorded once per location.
  • This is not consent from your leads; AI calls still need prior express consent under the TCPA.
  • Check the consent language on every form and calendar that feeds outbound calls.

What changed in GoHighLevel Voice AI outbound calling?

HighLevel moved the required outbound calling terms into the Voice AI Outbound Call workflow action. You now tick the consent checkbox inside the action and save it, and the acceptance is recorded once per location, so you no longer leave the workflow builder to complete a separate terms flow for each action.

HighLevel's help center documents the change in Voice AI Outbound Calling Setup in Workflows and Voice AI Outbound Calling Compliance Checks.

No. The checkbox records that your account accepted HighLevel's outbound calling terms. It does not give you consent to call anyone. Under the US Telephone Consumer Protection Act, AI-voice calls need the called person's prior express consent, which you collect from the lead through your forms, surveys or calendars.

Two different kinds of consent

The checkbox covers the first. Only your forms can give you the second.

The FCC confirmed in February 2024 that AI-generated voices count as "artificial" voices under the TCPA. The primary source is the FCC's announcement of the ruling. HighLevel also documents consent checks on forms, surveys and calendars.

What should you check in your GoHighLevel account?

Check that every form, survey and calendar that feeds an outbound Voice AI workflow includes clear consent language for automated calls, that the consent is saved on the contact, and that the workflow only calls contacts who have it.

Four checks before any outbound AI call

Confirm your consent wording with your legal adviser.
  1. Open each form and calendar used for lead capture and read the consent text.
  2. Confirm the consent field is mapped and saved on the contact record.
  3. Add a condition in the workflow so contacts without consent are skipped.
  4. Keep a stop or opt-out path that ends all calls and texts.

What does this mean for businesses using AI calling?

For businesses using AI calling, the setup got easier but the legal duty did not change: outbound AI calls are for leads who asked to be contacted. Used that way, an outbound Voice AI call within minutes of an enquiry is one of the fastest ways to reach a new lead.
