How do you register A2P 10DLC in GoHighLevel?

Unregistered business texts to US phones are blocked. Here is what to prepare on your website, the Trust Center steps in GoHighLevel, what it costs, and the mismatches that get campaigns rejected.

Key takeaways

  • Register in Settings, Phone System, Trust Center: brand first, then campaign.
  • One-time fee $22.50 for most small businesses, $64 for high volume (HighLevel, September 2026).
  • Approval with fast-track takes up to 3 business days; resubmissions do not repeat the vetting fee.
  • Most rejections are a mismatch between the campaign and the live website.

How do you register A2P 10DLC in GoHighLevel?

In GoHighLevel you register A2P 10DLC from Settings, then Phone System, then Trust Center: first you register your brand (the legal business), then one campaign that describes what texts you send and how people opt in. Approval with fast-track usually takes up to 3 business days, and the one-time fee is $22.50 for most small businesses, according to HighLevel's help center at the time of writing.

A2P means application-to-person: texts sent by software, not typed one by one on a phone. 10DLC means a normal 10-digit local number. US carriers require every business that texts from a local number to register who it is and what it sends. Twilio, whose network sits behind GoHighLevel's LC Phone, has blocked texts from unregistered 10DLC numbers to US phones since 2023, and those messages fail with error 30034. If your GoHighLevel texts are not arriving, check this first.

The registration itself takes about 20 minutes. What decides whether it is approved in three days or rejected three times is the work you do on your website before you press submit.

What do you need before you start?

You need your exact legal business name and EIN as the IRS has them, a business address that matches, a live website on your own domain, and three things on that website: an opt-in form with separate unticked consent checkboxes, a privacy policy that says you do not share mobile numbers for marketing, and SMS terms with STOP and HELP instructions.

ItemWhat carriers checkCommon mistake
Legal name and EINMatch the IRS record exactlyUsing the brand name instead of the legal entity
WebsiteLive, on your domain, describes your businessA half-built funnel page or a subdomain with no path from the main site
Opt-in formConsent checkboxes, unticked, optionalOne pre-ticked box covering everything
Privacy policyLinked in the footer before submission; no mobile data sharingA template that mentions selling or sharing leads
SMS termsBusiness name, message types, frequency, STOP, HELP, carrier liability lineNo terms page at all

HighLevel's own A2P opt-in compliance article (updated July 30, 2026) now asks for two separate checkboxes: one for marketing texts and one for non-marketing texts such as reminders and updates. Neither can be pre-selected, and the form has to work even if someone leaves both unticked.

What are the steps in the Trust Center?

Open the sub-account, go to Settings, Phone System, Trust Center, and start the A2P wizard. Choose your brand type, enter the business details, then describe the campaign: use case, message samples, how people opt in, and the opt-in, opt-out and help messages. Submit, pay the one-time fee, and assign your numbers to the approved campaign.

  1. Pick the brand type. Sole Proprietor is only for businesses with no EIN. Most businesses use Low Volume Standard; choose High Volume Standard only if you expect to send thousands of texts a day.
  2. Enter business details exactly as registered, with a contact email on your own domain, not a Gmail address.
  3. Choose the use case. Mixed or Marketing for most service businesses that send both reminders and offers.
  4. Write the campaign description in plain words: who you are, who receives texts, and what the texts are about.
  5. Add two to five sample messages that include your business name and "Reply STOP to opt out".
  6. Describe the opt-in flow and paste the URL of the form, with the exact checkbox wording.
  7. Submit and assign numbers. Once approved, every number that sends texts must be attached to the campaign.

If you manage many sub-accounts, each client business registers under its own legal name. One agency brand cannot cover ten different clients.

Those figures are from HighLevel's A2P 10DLC fees article, last updated September 24, 2026. HighLevel says they are pass-through charges from The Campaign Registry, Twilio and the carriers with no markup. Two details save money: a rejected campaign can be resubmitted without paying the vetting fee again, and an extra campaign under the same brand costs $15.00 in vetting. Why do A2P campaigns get rejected?

Most rejections come from a mismatch: the campaign says one thing and the website shows another. The usual causes are a use case that does not fit the business, checkbox wording that does not match the campaign description, a privacy policy missing the no-sharing line, legal links that are hard to find, or a website the reviewer cannot connect to the brand.

  • Use case mismatch: a dental practice registering "marketing" but whose samples are all reminders, or the other way round.
  • Checkbox and description do not match: the form says "updates" while the campaign says "promotions and offers".
  • DBA confusion: the website shows a trading name that appears nowhere in the registration.
  • Subdomain with no path: the form lives on a funnel subdomain and nothing on the main site links to it.
  • Hidden legal links: the privacy policy and terms exist but are not in the footer of the form page.

Fix the page, not just the wording in the wizard, then resubmit. Reviewers look at the live site. We see this pattern often in accounts that come to us through a GoHighLevel account cleanup, and skipping registration is also the first item on our list of common GoHighLevel mistakes.

What should you do after approval?

Assign every sending number to the campaign, send a test text to yourself, and make sure your workflows only text people who ticked the matching checkbox. Registration proves who you are. It does not give you consent to text anyone, and carriers can suspend a campaign that draws complaints.

In practice that means tagging contacts by consent type at the form, checking the tag at the start of every texting workflow, and handling STOP replies instantly; our page on what happens when a contact replies STOP shows what GoHighLevel does automatically and what it leaves to you. Consent and opt-out rules come from the TCPA, not from the carriers, and they are changing: see our note on the FCC opt-out rule changes, and our guide to what time businesses can text customers for quiet hours. If you would rather hand the whole thing over, A2P registration is part of every GoHighLevel setup we do, as in the Smile Bright dental case study, where enquiries get a first response by AI call, SMS or WhatsApp.

Questions about GoHighLevel A2P registration

Can I text customers while A2P approval is pending?

Not reliably. Texts from an unregistered number to US phones are blocked or filtered, so plan the first two or three business days of a launch around email and calls, or register before you go live.

Do I need a separate A2P registration for each GoHighLevel sub-account?

Each separate business needs its own brand registration under its own legal name and EIN. Several numbers inside one business can share one approved campaign.

Does A2P 10DLC apply to toll-free numbers?

No. Toll-free numbers go through a separate toll-free verification process. The website and opt-in requirements are similar, so the same preparation helps.

How many texts can I send after approval?

Daily limits depend on the brand type and the trust score carriers assign. Low volume brands suit most local service businesses; if you send thousands of texts a day, register as High Volume Standard.

Does A2P registration make my texts legal?

No. It satisfies the carriers. Consent, opt-outs and calling hours are separate legal rules, and our page on whether AI calling is legal covers the consent side for calls and AI voice.
