Does Autoesta build AI customer service agents?
Yes. Autoesta builds AI customer service agents that answer existing customers by chat, email, text, WhatsApp or phone, look up their order or booking, and hand anything else to a person in your helpdesk. A small build is about $1,000 at the time of writing.
The full service, with helpdesk AI pricing, a cost comparison per 1,000 resolved tickets and our handoff design, is on our AI customer service agent service page. This page answers the buyer's first questions: does Autoesta do this, how does the work run, what does it cost, and when you do not need us.
These agents are for support, meaning people who are already your customers. If you want an agent that talks to new website visitors and books sales calls, that is our AI chat agent for new leads.
What does Autoesta build for AI customer service?
We build an agent that answers from your approved knowledge base, looks up live order, booking or account data, completes simple actions within your rules, and opens or updates the ticket with a summary when a person needs to step in.
| Part of the build | What goes in | What comes out |
|---|---|---|
| Knowledge base | Your policies, help articles and saved replies | Short, single-topic articles the agent answers from, with gaps listed for you to fill |
| Lookups | Your store, booking calendar, CRM or billing system | Answers with real order status, appointment times or account details, with read access limited to what is needed |
| Actions | Your rules for reschedules, returns, resends and refunds | Simple actions done automatically; anything that moves money set up as "AI drafts, person approves" |
| Helpdesk handoff | Your helpdesk: Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gorgias, Intercom, HubSpot or GoHighLevel | Tickets tagged, summarised and routed to the right group, with the customer told what happens next |
| Channels | Website chat, email, SMS, WhatsApp or phone | One agent with the same knowledge and rules on each channel you choose |
| Measurement | Your helpdesk data | Containment, 7-day true resolution, CSAT gap and handoff rate by topic |
The agent tells customers it is an AI, never claims to be a person, and always has a path to a human. Those rules come from what can go wrong; our page on whether a company is liable for what its chatbot says covers why they matter.
How does an AI customer service build with Autoesta work?
We start with a free call and audit of your recent tickets, send a written scope with a fixed price, build on your own accounts, test against real past questions, launch on one channel, then widen. Fixes to anything we built are free for 6 months.
- Free strategy call. You tell us your channels, helpdesk, volume and the questions that eat your team's time.
- Free audit. We read a sample of recent tickets, group them by topic and check which of your systems have APIs the agent can use.
- Written scope and fixed price. Ticket types, channels, actions and escalation rules, with one price shown before work starts.
- Build on your accounts. Your helpdesk, your AI model account and keys, your CRM and automation tool.
- Test. We replay real past questions, including the awkward ones, and check every answer and action before any customer sees it.
- Launch small. One channel and the safest ticket types first, then more as the numbers hold.
- Six months of free fixes. Anything we built that breaks is fixed at no charge; monthly support after that is optional.
A small build takes days. A larger build with several agents, channels and lookups takes three to four weeks, as set out in how long an automation build takes. Waiting for API access and sign-off on the knowledge base is usually the slowest part.
How much does Autoesta charge for an AI customer service agent?
At the time of writing, the call and first audit are free, a small build such as an FAQ and order-status agent on one channel is about $1,000, full setups run $2,000 to $5,000, and larger systems get a fixed price after the audit.
| What you need | Autoesta price at the time of writing |
|---|---|
| Strategy call and first audit | Free |
| Small build: one channel, a few ticket types, helpdesk handoff | About $1,000 |
| Full setup | $2,000 to $5,000 |
| Larger system: several channels, account lookups and actions | Fixed price after the audit, shown before work starts |
| Fixes to anything we built | Free for 6 months |
| Monthly support after that | Optional, from $200 a month |
Model, helpdesk and channel fees are billed to your own accounts, separately from our price. What the helpdesk vendors charge for their own AI agents is compared in our AI customer service pricing research and in Zendesk AI vs Intercom Fin vs Gorgias pricing.
When do you not need Autoesta for AI customer service?
You may not need us when volume is modest, the answers already live in your help center, and your helpdesk's own AI agent supports the lookups you need. Turning that on yourself can be the cheapest start.
- A few hundred AI-resolved tickets a month. Your helpdesk's built-in agent, priced per resolution, is often the better call. The payback test on our service page shows where a custom agent starts to pay for itself.
- Your help center is current and complete. If the answers are already there and no lookups are needed, the built-in agent may only need switching on and tuning.
- Few repeat questions. If most tickets need judgement, an agent will hand off most of them. Better help articles may do more for you.
- The job is sales, not support. Answering new visitors and booking calls is a different build: the AI chat agent service.
We say so on the call. Often the right answer is the helpdesk's own agent now and a custom one later, when the numbers justify it.
Does Autoesta use the helpdesk's AI agent or build a custom one?
Both. We set up and tune helpdesk-native agents such as Intercom Fin, Zendesk AI agents, Gorgias AI Agent or GoHighLevel Conversation AI, and we build custom agents when volume is high, data sits in several systems, or you need control of the model and cost.
For a custom agent, every new build uses current models, never one with an announced retirement date, chosen for your requirements: answer quality, speed, cost and how customer data must be handled. Our page on which AI models Autoesta uses explains the choice. If you want help deciding before any build, paid AI consulting is quoted per business and includes writing an AI policy that fits your brand.
More questions about Autoesta and AI customer service
Will Autoesta's support agent hand customers to a person?
Yes. Every agent we build hands off when a customer asks for a person, after two answers that did not help, on topics you mark as high risk, or when the customer is upset. The ticket goes to the right group in your helpdesk with a short summary of what was asked and checked, and the customer is told when a person will reply, so nobody has to repeat themselves.
What happens when the agent gives a wrong answer?
We trace it to its cause, usually a missing or outdated article, fix the content or rule, and add the question to the test set so it is checked before every future change. A weekly sample of conversations and a reopen check catch most errors early. Fixes to anything we built are free for 6 months. Our page on whether AI agents make mistakes explains why errors happen.
How does Autoesta measure whether the agent is working?
We track four numbers from your helpdesk: the share of conversations closed without a person, the share of those with no new contact within 7 days, CSAT on AI-closed tickets against human-closed ones on the same topics, and handoff rate by topic. Vendor resolution counts are billing units, so we do not rely on them alone. See resolution rate vs containment rate.
Who owns the AI customer service agent Autoesta builds?
You do. We build on accounts in your name: your helpdesk, your AI model account and API keys, your automation tool and your CRM. Conversation data stays in your systems, so you can change providers or stop working with us without rebuilding. Check that the same is true with any agency before you sign.
Does Autoesta build AI customer service for large companies too?
Yes. Our team of 16, about 8 in San Francisco and the rest in India and Nepal, works with small firms and large companies in the US and abroad, and has delivered 320+ projects. Larger builds follow the same steps with more channels, systems and rules. See whether Autoesta works with small and large companies, or browse the Autoesta FAQ.
